I drove up to Paso Robles from Los Angeles this morning for the three day Harvest Wine Festival.  What a beautiful October day!  For now, I’ll just give you the highlights and will write in more detail and provide photos after I get home.

My first stop was the Peachy Canyon Winery in Templeton.  Among my favorites in an outstanding flight of red wines were the 2010 Petit Syrah, the 2011 Vortex Zinfandel, and a Non-Vintage Zinfandel Port XI.  More on these wines later.

After lunch, I walked around downtown Paso Robles and came across the Burbank Ranch Winery where I had an absolutely sinful paring of locally-made chocolate truffles with three red wines: 2012 Zinfandel Estate “Fall Colors”, 2010 Syrah Estate “Sunset” and 2010 Cabernet Franc Estate “Sire”.

If you are reading this and are at the festival, I highly recommend making a stop at these wineries.  Tomorrow, day two, I have many more wineries to visit.  Stay tuned.
